The Miracle They Almost Talked Themselves Out Of

Episode Summary

In February 1980, a group of college kids walked into a locker room in Lake Placid and were about to face the most dominant hockey team the world had ever seen — and their coach spent the entire lead-up trying to convince them they weren't supposed to win. This week, we go inside the ice, the arguments, the impossible odds, and the one speech that wasn't a speech, to unpack how the Miracle on Ice was less about talent and almost entirely about dismantling the psychology of defeat. Spoiler: it nearly didn't work.
